Fantastic fortresses
There are as many as 1,500 castles scattered throughout Scotland’s vast landscapes, from those that look as though they have fallen out of the pages of a fairy-tale book, to craggy ruins that cling precariously to clifftops and wear their scars from past battles well. Sally Coffey, author of new guidebook Moon Scotland, highlights some of the best castles can visit yourself.
