With a generous prize of $100,000 (£88,810) on offer, it invited its most creative designers, architects and DIY enthusiasts to send in their visions for quirky and sustainable places to stay, and Airbnbers really delivered: among tens of thousands of entries, 1,214 were inspired by fruit, and another 400 offered stargazing experiences. 25 lucky winners, including this Mexican petal palace, were chosen. The only condition? That the prize money should be used to make the design a reality, open to guests from summer 2023.
