Whether you're after a remote retreat within the bounds of a national park, a quirky art hotel in an underrated town or a swish boutique spot in a buzzing metropolis, you'll find it in the USA. These are the hottest new hotel openings from 2022 and on through 2023.

Arlo Chicago, Chicago, Illinois
New for spring 2023, Arlo Chicago marks the Midwest debut of this experiential hotel brand. Housed within the old Atlantic Bank building, dating back to 1916, Arlo Chicago provides a plush base for travellers who care about where they rest their head as much as which local haunt they'll visit first. Of the 218 rooms, some offer city views and floor-to-ceiling windows, while all include a complementary fortune cookie on arrival. The hotel also has its own modern American restaurant, and guests will find sights such as Millennium Park and Navy Pier just a short stroll away.
Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel
Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel, Sedona, Arizona
You're immersed in nature at Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel, which opened early February 2023. Guests can expect sweeping High Desert views from a series of freestanding suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and private rooftop terraces, plus a spa that puts wellness front and centre. You can also get involved with organised activities ranging from off-road Jeep excursions to wine tours.
Albert Hotel, Fredericksburg, Texas
This swish hotel will place you in the heart of Texas Hill Country, with its many wineries, natural wonders and spring bluebonnets. Designed in honour of lauded architect Albert Keidel, the stylish 110-room boutique takes up four historic structures on Fredericksburg's Main Street, and comes complete with a trio of contemporary restaurants and two bars. The highlight is the outdoor pool, where the patio is a perfect spot for a sundowner. After a series of delays, the hotel will finally open its doors early in spring 2023.
Aman New York, New York City, New York
Tried-and-tested luxury brand Aman opened a landmark property in New York City last summer. It's tucked into the elegant, 1920s-era Crown Building (once home to the Museum of Modern Art) on sought-after Fifth Avenue, and brims with indulgent amenities. There are two fine-dining restaurants, a gleaming spa, a jazz club and a wine library, plus 83 rooms and suites decked out in soothing neutrals. The property also includes 22 private homes.
The Ned NoMad, New York City, New York
Luxury hotel The Ned has become a London institution and the British jewel made its debut across the pond last summer. It's the respected brand's first foray beyond the Big Smoke and New York guests can expect all the same luxuries offered at the UK property. Built into the Beaux-Arts Johnston Building, the new hotel is stuffed with opulent 1920s-inspired rooms, plus sophisticated Italian restaurant Cecconi's and low-lit cocktail bar Little Ned. The private Ned’s Club includes a rooftop space and the gorgeous Atrium bar downstairs.
1 Hotel San Francisco, San Francisco, California
Fresh from a June 2022 opening, 1 Hotel San Francisco is billed as a "mission-driven" property that puts sustainability front and centre. Inspired by its Bay Area surroundings, the hotel was built with reclaimed and organic materials and filled with native greenery, while the modern restaurant champions ingredients from Northern California. There are plenty of ways to relax too: unwind with a rooftop yoga session or sip cocktails on the patio with views of the Bay Bridge.
Desolation Hotel, South Lake Tahoe, California
Branding itself a "micro-resort for the modern adventurer", Desolation Hotel opened late-summer in 2022. The curious name belies the myriad creature comforts on offer here. Guests can choose between balconied studios, elegant townhouses or the beautifully minimalist Granite Suite, all with stylish decor influenced by Japan and Scandinavia. You'll have trouble dragging yourself away from the facilities – there's a glittering pool and Jacuzzi, and fine-dining restaurant Maggie's – but if you do manage it, the wonderful wilderness of South Lake Tahoe awaits.
Frontier Drive-Inn, San Luis Valley, Colorado
If you're dreaming of a nostalgic stay in Colorado, then the Frontier Drive-Inn is just the ticket. A 1950s drive-in movie theatre has been transformed into quirky lodgings, complete with suites, yurts and well-furnished sheds. You can still catch a movie – there are nightly outdoor screenings – while a roofless spa lets you look out over the stirring San Luis Valley as you relax with a treatment.
Sensei Porcupine Creek, Greater Palm Springs, California
Wellness comes to the fore at this dreamy retreat in Rancho Mirage, situated inside a nationally protected monument in the Coachella Valley. Enveloped by the Santa Rosa Mountains, the property, which opened in November 2022, will include a sprawling golf course, tennis courts, tranquil spa gardens and fine-dining options. You can also take to desert hiking trails or soak up the sights and sounds of glittering Palm Springs.
Astra Hotel, Seattle, Washington
Seattle's Astra Hotel is a glimpse into the future. The new property embraces technology throughout, from cool digital art installations to a robot butler named Sparky, who delivers food to rooms and cracks jokes in the lobby. Rooms are finished in gleaming white, with bold splashes of colour, and there are also stellar views over the Emerald City from rooftop bar Altitude Sky Lounge. You'll be a stone's throw from key sights like the Space Needle too.

Hotel Fraye, Nashville, Tennessee
Hotel Fraye opened in mid-August 2022 and occupies a chic spot in Music City's Midtown neighbourhood, close to Music Row (home of iconic hit factory Historic RCA Studio B). The property comes under the Hilton Curio umbrella and its crown jewel is its serene pool area and sleek rooftop bar and lounge. The sprawling wellness centre will have you suitably relaxed before an evening on Broadway too.
Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel
Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel, Boston, Massachusetts
Just a handful of Raffles properties exist around the globe and this glass-clad hotel in Boston's quaint Back Bay neighbourhood is quite the head-turner. Pushed back to a summer 2023 opening, the hotel will place you in the heart of the district, which is known for its beautiful brownstones, art galleries and buzzing Copley Square. It'll be an exercise in luxury, with five chic bars and restaurants, a rooftop garden terrace and a large spa. The complex will include private residences too.
The Ficklen, Greenville, North Carolina
Coming under Marriott's Tribute Portfolio, The Ficklen will be a hip, boutique addition to Greenville's buzzing Uptown neighbourhood. Set to open sometime this year, the plan is to fill up an old tobacco warehouse with 70 design-forward rooms, a lobby bar serving artisan cocktails and a contemporary restaurant. A food hall will also open in the adjacent Star Warehouse.

Ultra-cosy yet seamlessly stylish, Life House, Berkshires describes itself as a "writer's mountain retreat". Indeed, there's a tome-filled library complete with puffy armchairs, plants and plenty of cushions, plus a cocktail bar furnished with yet more books. In need of some inspiration? Strike out from the revamped 1970s lodge and hit the nearby hiking trails. The property opened in September 2022.

This Californian bolthole has a long history. The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern began life in the 1880s as a Gold Rush stagecoach stop before becoming an illustrious Prohibition-era hangout. Now it's an idyllic, palm-tree-strewn retreat with minimalist guest rooms and cottage-style lodgings. In true California style, there's also an open-air restaurant and a lovely pool area.
Passport Springs and Spa, Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta is poised for Passport Springs and Spa, an enormous property due to open along Ronald Reagan Boulevard in autumn 2023. A juggernaut of a resort, it's tipped to be the largest spa in North America and will come complete with pools surrounded by tropical trees, hot springs and a Roman-style courtyard. It will manifest as a series of themed pavilions based on destinations from Italy to Japan, with food, architecture and even the hot springs' mineral profiles inspired by their respective places.
AC Hotel Clearwater Beach
AC Hotel Clearwater Beach, Clearwater, Florida
Water, water everywhere: that's what you'll see from your room at the AC Hotel Clearwater Beach, which offers views over both the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway. For the best vistas of all head to Soirée, the 10th-floor rooftop bar offering craft beverages and Mediterranean plates, or beeline for the fifth floor and sip frozen drinks in the sleek pool area. Clearwater Beach's family attractions and powder-white sands are on your doorstep too. The hotel opened in June 2022.

Looking for a grown-up stay near Walt Disney World Resort? ette hotel Orlando might be the answer. It's a five-minute drive from the home of Mickey and co., yet it's the antithesis of Disney World's craziness. The focus here is wellness, with serene whitewashed rooms, spa facilities and no alcohol served across the property. Restaurant Salt & The Cellar is a real treat too: it's the vision of Michelin-starred chef Akira Back.

It's sure to be a true sanctuary, with seven restaurants and bars serving dishes whipped up from thoughtfully sourced local ingredients and personalised wellness programmes covering everything from fitness to food. There's also a bounty of natural wonders just beyond your doors, including the colourful and otherworldly Na Pali Coast.
Hotel Tupelo, Tupelo, Mississippi
Tupelo, birthplace of the King of Rock and Roll, has been in the spotlight recently as Baz Luhrmann's movie Elvis won awards and wowed audiences. If you're keen to soak up the city's musical heritage then Hotel Tupelo makes the perfect base: it's just a three-minute drive from Elvis Presley's birthplace and there are plenty of things that make the property sing. A highlight is Jobos, a convivial restaurant serving Gulf Coast seafood and craft cocktails.

Their motto is "Keep it Western" and you can expect mounted animal heads, exposed wooden beams and elegant landscape paintings at this converted 1960s motor lodge. Make time for a beer in The Virginian Saloon too. The hotel opened in early 2022.
The St. Regis Chicago, Chicago, Illinois
The Windy City is famed for its skyscrapers and The St. Regis (pictured far left) stands out even in this jungle of soaring buildings. The glass behemoth is among the tallest in the city, home to restaurants, apartments and, soon, a sumptuous Marriott hotel. Now slated for an April 2023 opening (the date has been pushed back several times), it's set to be one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, complete with vast suites, a butler service and glittering views of that Chicago skyline.

The Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Arizona
Originally supposed to open in 2020, this hotel's grand debut was pushed back thanks to COVID-19 – but it's hoped that it'll finally throw open its doors in autumn 2023. Inevitably it'll be worth the wait, with rugged Camelback Mountain providing the backdrop to a vast palm-lined swimming pool and a string of peaceful groves and gardens. Neutral tones in the rooms continue the peaceful vibe and the balconies promise views of epic landscapes too.
Humbird Hotel, Sandpoint, Idaho
One for skiers, this is the newest hotel at Idaho's Schweitzer ski resort, the largest in the region. The place is stylish yet understated, designed by cool Portland-based architecture firm Skylab, with a timber structure that's a nod to the area's logging history. You'll find 31 neat rooms, a restaurant serving Alpine-style food and the Glass Room, a communal area with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows for drinking in the views.

Four Seasons hotels are the ultimate in luxury and one of the brand's latest offerings opened in June 2022 in the Twin City of Minneapolis. It's smack bang in the middle of the downtown area and it's got all the top-notch amenities and keen attention to detail you'd expect from an opulent Four Seasons property. Check out Riva Terrace (pictured), the fourth-floor pool plaza serving Italian plates and craft cocktails and be sure to schedule some time for the spa.

Now scheduled to open later in 2023, the Amrit Ocean Resort is one of the most hotly anticipated hotels in America. Sprawling across seven oceanside acres, it's set to be an oasis of calm, with a wholehearted focus on wellness and mindfulness. Guests will benefit from innovative treatments such as IV and sound and light therapies, plus a 'spa-centred' Ayurvedic and yoga programme. There'll also be a restaurant complete with plants and calming neutral rooms, spread over two soaring towers named Peace and Happiness.
Thompson Denver, Denver, Colorado
"Boutique luxury" is promised at this smart hotel in Denver's Lower Downtown area, which opened in early 2022. You'll be within kissing distance of Union Station, nicknamed 'Denver's living room', and close to baseball stadium Coors Field too. Rooms are grown-up and sophisticated – think leather headboards and dark-wood floors – and there's a great restaurant spearheaded by Michelin-starred chef Ludo Lefebvre and inspired by a French brasserie.

Branding itself a luxury "farm-centric" escape, sprawling Southall Inn sits on a working farm, swallowed up by 325 lush acres harbouring everything from orchards to crop fields. There's a slew of nature-inspired guest rooms and cottages (notice the stacked-stone walls and the handmade beams) and a spa that uses ingredients from the farm. The Signature Restaurant showcases this bounty too and has a patio offering breathtaking views of the landscape.
