Almost a country in miniature, Gauja National Park encompasses a multitude of attractions, from beautiful landscapes, caves and natural springs to ruined castles, churches, museums, ancient manor houses and three picturesque medieval towns: Straupe, Sigulda and Cesis. Established in 1973, it is Latvia’s oldest and largest national park, covering more than 90,000 hectares. Its distinctive reddish sandstone rocks, cliffs and caverns make it an area of incredible natural beauty.
