Sat between the Fluvià and Toronell Rivers, you'll find one of the most picturesque villages in Catalonia (and Spain, for that matter). Clinging to the top of a spectacular basalt rock face, the church and houses of Castellfollit de la Roca always appear to be just one strong gust of wind away from falling into the abyss.

Perhaps proving that looks can be deceiving, however, this epic place has stuck resolutely to its foundations since the Middle Ages. For the best views in the town itself, head to the Josep Pla square-viewpoint. From there, you can soak up the sights and sounds of the Garrotxa Volcanic Area Nature Reserve's stunning landscapes.
