From fun family trips to relaxing adults-only retreats and nature-packed staycations, holiday parks often offer an ideal way to keep everyone happy and entertained. Although the UK is full of great and entertaining resorts, some are better than others. Fortunately, Which? Travel has released a survey of how guests ranked Britain’s best (and worst) holiday parks. Read on to see which came out on top…

Pontins Holiday Parks comes in as the lowest-rated resort on the list with a 59% guest score. As a self-catering holiday park with locations in North Wales, Southport, Somerset, Sussex, Suffolk and Weston-super-Mare, the company prides itself on providing fun activities for the whole family. Customers, however, gave its entertainment, quality of accommodation and value for money two out of five stars.

More than 66 holiday parks are part of Parkdean Resorts, making it the UK’s largest holiday park operator. Guests are especially happy with Parkdean’s cleanliness and quality of accommodation, but feel that the parks lack in entertainment and food and drink services.

Nestled all around Britain’s coastline, Haven Holiday Parks offers 38 different locations for guests to choose from. With a range of housing options, Haven scored four stars for the quality and cleanliness of its accommodation. Unfortunately, guests were not satisfied with the parks’ food and drink and entertainment.

These 15 adults-only hotels and villages provide guests with some of the greenest escapes in North Wales and England. Customers especially liked Warner Leisure’s clean and high-quality rooms, as well as the service and the menus. Although they ranked high in a lot of categories, Warner Leisure received only two stars for value for money.

Each of Park Holidays UK’s 43 resorts has a unique design, with different housing and entertainment options, and is located in either England or Scotland. Although guests weren’t convinced by Park Holidays’ entertainment, they praised the customer service, accommodation and cleanliness.

Priding itself on keeping both adults and their kids entertained, Butlin’s programme of shows ensured its entertainment received four stars out of five from visitors. In its three beachside resorts, located in Bognor Regis, Minehead and Blue Flag, visitors also loved the cleanliness and customer service.

True to its name, Forest Holidays' homes are all found in the UK’s most beautiful forests, offering a family trip to the great outdoors. Guests here appreciated the cosy yet modern cabins, praising them for their quality and cleanliness, but were less impressed by the entertainment, giving it only two stars.

With a variety of comfortable woodland lodges in the UK and Ireland, Centre Parcs focuses on providing fun indoor, outdoor and watersports activities for all its guests. The holiday parks’ facilities, accommodation, customer service and cleanliness were especially commended by visitors.

These family-owned holiday parks can be found in coastal and rural locations, invariably with beautiful surroundings for guests to explore. Here visitors wished for better entertainment, but enjoyed the clean and top-notch housing options.

These are the UK's best beaches

Hoseasons charms visitors with lovely cottages, lodges, beach huts and even boats to spend their holidays in. Surrounded by Britain's wildlife, the holiday parks impressed guests with their quality housing, hygiene and customer service. Similar to others on this list, Hoseasons’ entertainment received a low rating compared to other categories.

Often situated near castles, natural parks and beaches, Away Resorts (now also including Aria Resorts) treats its guests to nature escapes with a diverse collection of lodges, which customers love. Guests were especially pleased with Away’s food and drink, cleanliness and service.

Visitors can find Verdant Leisure’s 14 holiday parks spread across Scotland, Wales and northern England. Between their boutique retreats, beachside resorts and action-filled holidays, guests were particularly satisfied with the holiday parks’ entertainment, accommodation, hygiene, service and value for money, giving them all four stars. 

Shorefield Holidays runs eight holiday parks in Dorset, Hampshire and the New Forest, where visitors can either pitch a tent, book a lodge or sleep in a treehouse. Guests have given these resorts a perfect rating for accommodation, while also commending their service, cleanliness, food and drink, entertainment and value for money.

Discover beach escapes in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wales with John Fowler Holiday Parks, which include lodges, glamping sites, caravans and camping options. The company’s service is perfect, according to customers, while their clean and high-quality accommodation, food and drink, entertainment and value for money also satisfied guests.

From dog-friendly stays, golf holidays and fishing trips to toddler-friendly breaks, Hoburne Holidays offers an abundance of options. With that much choice it's no surprise guests love the quality of accommodation here, as well as the cleanliness, service and value for money.

Bluestone Wales is the first of three holiday parks on this list to receive the ‘Which? Recommended’ label. The 500-acre Pembrokeshire resort received high praise from guests in every category (cleanliness, quality of accommodation, customer service, facilities, entertainment, food and drink, and value for money), and achieved a perfect score for service and housing.

With three parks in Dorset and one in Cornwall, Waterside Holiday Group offers high-quality accommodation and ensures a trip full of family fun and relaxation. Guests have given Waterside a perfect rating in every category, leaving it with a high satisfaction score of 87%.

Potters Resorts has been ranked the best holiday park provider in the UK by customers. The two all-inclusive parks, one in Essex and one in Norfolk, are designed with adults-only breaks in mind. Recommended by Which?, both resorts have enamoured guests with their amenities and services, receiving five stars in both categories.
