Starting at just under £1.3 million ($1.6m), Newmar's 2024 King Aire is exactly as chic as you'd expect from a company known for quality. Promising 'opulence at every corner', Newmar's latest luxury coach is built on a Spartan chassis with a 605 horsepower engine and its cockpit has everything you'd need for a comfortable journey. Heated and cooled Italian leather driver and passenger seats come with reclining, footrest and massage features, as well as wireless charging mats. And for journeys into colder climes, you can even warm your hands on a heated steering wheel.

Inside, millionaire adventurers get Italian leather furniture, heated tiled flooring and a 55-inch 4K TV with Bose sound as standard. Hardwood, European-style cabinets and super-polished quartz countertops give the living area an instantly opulent feel. There are 10 different exterior paint jobs and four floor plans to choose from, all coming in at 45 feet (14m) in length, giving plenty of scope to tailor the vehicle just so.

The stylish galley has a large farmhouse sink, dishwasher, double-door refrigerator, ice-maker and large pantry – you can also add in a kitchen window, coffee maker and beverage centre if you fancy. The dining area or 'dinette' is available in a variety of configurations, but it looks like a seriously comfortable set up, whatever you choose.

The bathroom is just as slick as the rest of the coach. The fully-tiled shower has a fold down seat, plus there's a trough sink, a stacked washer and dryer and a cathedral ceiling for added height. Meanwhile, back in the bedroom you can relax in a king-sized bed while you watch your 50-inch TV – you can even add in a fireplace to cosy up next to on chiller evenings.

Dembell's sleek silver Large Garage Model is the biggest motorhome in its range. But don't let that slick exterior fool you – there's some serious tech hiding inside. Not only is it build on a heavy duty Mercedes-Benz Actros Gigaspace chassis, but it has everything you need to live comfortably. This includes a hybrid boiler, solar panels and zonal air conditioning, as well as underfloor and radiator heating, and surface-heated windows.

The spacious open-plan layout is all on one level with a ceiling height of almost seven feet (2m), which gives it the feel of a studio apartment. Once you're parked up, there are slide-out sections in the lounge, kitchen and the bedroom, which open out to create more lateral space inside. The motorhome has been decked out with high-end appliances by premium brands like Miele, Elica, Liebherr and Bose.

Designed by an Italian studio who previously only created yacht interiors, the inside space feels achingly modern but practical too. Dembell prides itself on the use of premium and natural materials such as marble, leather and wood to achieve a high-end feel. Luxury features come as standard so it's not as customisable as some of the vehicles on our list. However, customers can choose from three different interior colours: steel, copper and petrol (pictured).

The piece de resistance is the back wall, which opens to reveal a sliding platform that can accommodate a car up to four meters long. The trick is made possible thanks to Dembell's patented pull-down system, which allows the bedroom floor to be lowered when a car isn't parked in the garage. A Large Garage Model like this will set you back just over £1.3 million ($1.67m).

Imbued with Austro-Italian style, the design of Marchi Mobile's EleMMent Palazzo Superior is influenced by motor-sports, aviation and yachting. The luxurious motorhome's most recognisable feature is its helicopter-like windshield, which can be darkened in two stages using an adjustable sun protection system. At just under £1.7 million ($2.1 million), it's one of the most expensive motorhomes money can buy.

The floor plan is designed to do away with any pre-existing stereotypes of what a mobile home interior should look like and once you're inside it's fair to say it looks more like a bijou hotel room than an RV. A 13-foot (4m) sofa allows owners to fully kick back and relax, just steps from a large screen TV, drinks fridge, icemaker and sleek kitchenette. 

The master bedroom has a king-size bed, which is made by the same company that supplies beds to the British royal family and is decked out in Italian linen. Storage space, a dressing table, TV and an adjoining 16-square-foot (1.5sqm) rainfall shower all add to the liveability of the luxe space.

Magical motorhomes you can rent in the US

The motorhome even has its very own pop-up nightclub-style roof terrace. In next to no time, an automatic lift system raises it up out of the body, converting the roof into a fabulous entertaining space with a dance floor or sunbathing deck and a covered seating area. The sky lounge is accessed by an exterior stairwell and, thanks to radiant floor heating, you can even use it in chiller weather.

The stand-out feature of Volkner's Performance S is its central car garage. Nestled between the axles of the motorhome, it's big enough to fit a four-seater car and can even be extended to fit a supercar like this Ferrari. When it's unloaded, the garage platform can be used as a terrace with an overhead awning. 

The sense of space in the refined living area is achieved through Volkner's Wall-Out feature, which extends almost the entire length of the vehicle. Needless to say, the interior fixtures and fittings are precision crafted and fully tailored to the customer's needs. Priced at a little over £1.7 million ($2.2m), we'd expect nothing less.

This interior, taken from another Performance S, shows the extent to which Volkner can tailor their motorhomes to the needs of different owners. Everything from the kitchen countertops and appliances to the seating upholstery is customisable.  And let's not forget the driving experience. The driver and passenger seats up front come with a massage function, as well as in-seat heating and ventilation to ensure a comfortable ride. When you park, they can be swivelled around to become TV chairs with electrically extendable footrests.

This hidden nook rises from the countertop at the press of a button to reveal a coffee machine and can be hidden again when you need more counter space. Even the garage can be flexibly designed. It can house motorcycles instead of a car, or even a summer kitchen or fitness studio. 

Described by Featherlite as 'the pinnacle of custom coach building', the Kapalua is packed full of non-standard features. The Prevost shell has a customised slide configuration and exterior panel arrangement, while noteworthy features include a custom water filtration system, LED-lighted power awnings, LED under-coach lighting and a patio area with a 49-inch HD TV. Up front, the driver has dual screen dash monitors with 360° cameras, LED lighted dash vents and wireless phone chargers for an easy driving experience.

"Nothing was overlooked when designing and building this coach", according to Featherlite's VP of Sales and Marketing, Mark Eisenhart. It shows, and the bespoke details continue inside. A custom ceiling design backlit with LED lighting and white oak flooring create a flow through the living area, which features a leather sofa bed, twin recliners and a 55-inch HD TV with a Sonos soundbar and subwoofer.

Gone are the days of cramped, grey motorhome bathrooms. This envy-inducing room features a rainfall shower with an in-shower lighted anti-fog mirror and a heated bench, as well as a yacht-style lavatory and heated towel rails. Naturally, a custom design like this doesn't come cheap – you can expect to pay upwards of £2.4 million ($3m) for a high-end, one-of-a-kind coach like this.

The master stateroom lies at the rear of the coach, with a bespoke California king bed, wireless bedside phone chargers and a 65-inch HD TV. While we might think it's just singers on tour or actors on set who require this kind of luxe living on the go, Featherlite customers are surprisingly diverse. Its customer base skews younger than other coach companies and includes business owners, trucking tycoons and tech entrepreneurs, as well as NASCAR team owners and managers.
