To help with the virtual wanderlust, Airbnb has released a list of the top 10 most wish-listed properties on the platform between 11 March and 4 May. From remote escapes in Iceland and Washington state to private beach villas and luxurious treehouses, these are the most wish-listed homes in an ascending order, with the most popular at the end.

This stylish riad – a traditional Moroccan house built around a central courtyard – provides the perfect escape from Marrakech’s bustling souks and buzzing streets. The three-bed property, which includes a tiled plunge pool and roof terrace, is available for exclusive hire and can sleep up to seven guests. 

It's located close to Marrakech's central square Jemaa el-Fnaa and the riad's host offers other services like airport pick-up, babysitting and traditional meals. Breakfast is included and visitors will enjoy traditional Moroccan mint tea on arrival. Typically, the suite for two costs £76 ($94) a night (with a three-night minimum stay) and the extra two bedrooms cost an additional £51 ($63) a night.

Hanging off of a cliffside in the centre of Oia, this unique Greek property offers unparalleled views over Santorini and the caldera. Renovated by local craftsmen, this two-bedroom home used to serve as the old bakery and is just steps away from the main pedestrian streets of Oia. Despite the central location, its private terraces that expand across different levels, offer privacy and a sense of remoteness.

Inside, the original architectural plan has been maintained and the house is equipped to a high standard. Normally, it'll cost around £600 ($740) a night and will sleep up to four guests.

This wood-clad apartment near Iceland’s second city Akureyri has incredible views over Eyjafjörður fjord. Usually, there are plenty of opportunities for whale watching trips and midnight horse rides nearby, as well as thermal pools. The sleek interior has two bedrooms with vast windows and a deck to enjoy the views.

With a bit of luck, guests could also be treated to the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. Inside, the pool house has all the comforts of a home, including a modern kitchen, a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a living area with cable TV. The pool house can be accessed via self check-in and there's a dedicated parking space too.

This pool house sleeps up to three people and also offers access to a private spa. Typically, this property costs £145 ($178) a night, and the host offers a 10% discount on weekly stays and 20% on monthly stays.

Just a three-minute walk from the beach, this treehouse is a true fairy-tale escape. An open veranda offers stunning sunrise views and the property is surrounded by a fragrant garden. The two-level house has one bedroom and a kitchenette as well as a bathroom and a daybed. Access to the pool is also included and the Balinese village, where it's located, offers everything within walking distance.

There are several restaurants in the area and guests are also encouraged to pick fruit from the garden, including coconuts, papayas and passion fruit, depending on season. This dreamy property requires a two-night minimum stay and typically prices start around £75 ($92) a night.

Be transported to the mythical Middle-earth as you sleep in this Lord of the Rings-inspired hobbit home. Nestled into a mountainside in central Washington state, the one-bedroom home has a round doorway that opens up to incredible mountain scenery where your neighbours will be local wildlife like deer, rabbits and grouse.

The underground home sleeps two and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay, including a fireplace, a hot drink bar, fully-equipped bathroom and a cosy queen-size bed. Typically, this fairy-tale escape will set you back around £324 ($400) a night.

This secluded bamboo home is set on the bank of a shimmering river in a peaceful Balinese village. It may be rustic but you’ll find a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom which sleeps up to four. Relax on the hammock or bean bag and listen to the sound of the water below, or play the ukulele and drum provided.

The enchanting landscape around is dominated by the incredible Mount Agung volcano and the surrounding jungle-clad mountains and rice fields. Normally, this stunning Airbnb costs around £50 ($61) per person per night and has a two-night minimum stay. Various discounts are available on longer stays.
