Fancy a nature escape but not a fan of camping? Then you must've heard of glamping – a combination of hotel-like amenities and comforts with sleeping out under the stars. From cosy tepees with incredible mountain views to luxury domes in the middle of forests, if you'd rather sleep in a comfy bed than in a sleeping bag, we've rounded up some of America's most stunning glamping sites for your next trip. Collective Hill Country, Texas

Set in a gorgeous 225-acre ranch and organic farm, Collective Hill Country is just a short drive from Austin but feels like a world away from the city. Guests can tune out distractions on the ranch as they enjoy outdoor adventures like horseback riding, campfire s’mores and farm-to-table feasts under the stars. When it's time to rest, there are three different tent options to choose from, but all include complimentary breakfast baskets, cosy wood-burning stoves and en suite bathrooms with rain showers. The Resort at Paws Up, Montana

Known as a wilderness sanctuary, The Resort at Paws Up is set on the grounds of an active 37,000-acre cattle ranch. Guests can pick between two accommodation options – a luxury tent complete with an en suite and wooden floors or one of the comfortable private homes. You can explore the rolling hills of Blackfoot Valley with more than a hundred miles (161km) of trails either on foot or on horseback or go rafting on Blackfoot River. Rates start from £930 ($1,155) per two a night (based on a four-night minimum stay).
Huttopia Adirondacks, New York

This gorgeous glamping resort in the Lake George region of the Adirondack Park is spread out over nearly 300 acres of woodlands at the foot of Kenyon Mountain. The ideal base for exploring nearby hiking trails, it's also great to just switch off from the world and relax by dipping into the heated pool and gathering around the fire pit in the evening to stargaze. There are three types of tents available for intimate getaways or larger family holidays with rates starting from £96 ($120) a night.
Westgate River Ranch, Florida

A wilderness paradise in central Florida, Westgate River Ranch lies just an hour south of Orlando. Accommodation here ranges from tents to tipis set on 1,700 scenic acres overlooking the Kissimmee River. There's plenty to get up to here as well, from nature hikes and horseback riding to swimming and fishing. There's also a state-of-the-art ropes course and a rock climbing wall on site. Glamping rates start from £306 ($380) per night.
Firelight Camps, New York

Pitched on La Tourelle Resort and Spa in Ithaca, this stylish campsite features cosy tents with hardwood floors, a plush king or queen bed and a private tented porch with deck chairs. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, including wild foraging hikes in the Buttermilk Falls State Park during the day while Tuesday evenings are spent by the fireside listening to live music. Rates for tents start from £160 ($199) a night double occupancy and include a locally sourced breakfast.

Little Arrow Outdoor Resort, Tennessee

Just a stone’s throw away from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Little Arrow Outdoor Retreat is perfect for enjoying a wild escape in total comfort. There are several types of accommodation on offer at this lovely glamping resort, from tiny homes and Airstreams to RVs and glamping tents. Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

Located on the doorstep of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this luxury campsite is all about the breathtaking southern Appalachian wilderness surrounding it. Although there are plenty of opportunities to pitch up a tent at the Blue Bear Mountain Camp, it's the roomy tipis here we have our eye on. One of the more affordable glamping options, the tipis on site have queen-sized beds with linens and electric blankets and the campsite offers easy access to a plethora of hiking trails. Located in the heart of the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, it's surrounded by scenic forests for a truly secluded experience. Rates start from £100 ($125) per night.
Dunton River Camp, Colorado

Wild and rustic on the outside, cosy and warm on the inside, the Dunton River Camp lies on a former cattle ranch dating back to the 19th century. Nestled within a beautiful alpine setting, the site features tents overlooking the West Fork of the Dolores River and tents with views across the mountain, each with en suite bathrooms and king-sized beds. Rates start from £1,640 ($2,035) per tent for two guests and include three meals and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available).
Capitol Reef Resort, Utah

The Capitol Reef Resort, with its luxury cabins and cosy tipis, is just a mile (1.6km) from the Capitol Reef National Park. After a day of exploring the park's greatest attractions, there are plenty of comforts waiting at the resort, from cosy beds and crisp linens to stunning views of Utah's striking Red Rock Cliffs. If staying longer, the property is excellent for planning a trip to the Grand Circle of National Parks – Grand Staircase, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands and Zion. Huttopia White Mountains, New Hampshire

Located just over two hours drive from Boston, Huttopia White Mountains welcomes guests on the banks of Iona Lake surrounded by stunning forest scenery. There's a choice between cabins or tents, which come with their own private BBQ, and guests can take advantage of the on-site Airstream food truck, a large heated swimming pool and rentable kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. Prices start from £68 ($85) per night.
the green o, Montana

Owned by the same people as Paws Up, the green o is an adults-only hideaway in the heart of Montana. Guests can choose from 12 luxury accommodations, known as Hauses, with four different designs – tree, green, round or light. Outdoor activities include horseback riding, fly-fishing, climbing and hiking opportunities as well as a fitness centre, yoga studio and a spa on site if that's more your thing. Rates start from £1,693 ($2,100) per night and include three meals per day and the use of a Lexus SUV.

Mendocino Grove, California
